PURE
PURE is a UK based carbon offset charity established by a group of like-minded people who wanted to give everyone a simple way to contribute to the fight against climate change.
Since its launch by the Climate Change Minister in 2006, their dedicated team of experts has worked with businesses, organisations and individuals to reduce, measure and offset their carbon emissions. Carbon offsetting via PURE offers everyone the opportunity to 'do their bit' to minimise their impact on the environment and ultimately to slow down the long term impact of climate change.
To date, PURE has offset nearly 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in support of UK and international sustainable development projects.
PURE the Clean Planet Trust:
- is a UK registered charity (number 1112249);
- is governed by an unpaid board of independent Trustees;
- is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board;
- was the world's first carbon offsetter to receive ten quality ticks in the independent Carbon Catalog.
PURE's procurement policy ensures that project selection is impartial. It includes:
- minimum project quality standards;
- a pricing policy to ensure that the charity receives good value when purchasing carbon credits;
- compliance with the UK Government's Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting.
The running of PURE, like any other charity, inevitably incurs expenses. Our internal expenses are capped at 22% although they have run well below this since our launch. This means that if you are an eligible UK taxpayer, we guarantee that at least 100% of your net donation will be used directly to purchase and retire carbon credits.
